Furnace Rooms is based in the grounds of a historic oast house in Kent, England, with full 360° panoramic views of the North Downs countryside, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Situated next door is the stunning St Catherine’s church, which remains the only complete Anglican church designed by Victorian architect E W Pugin.

The studio was formerly owned by Irish rock guitarist Bernie Torme until his passing in 2019; he was best known for his work with Gillian, as well as stints with Ozzy Osbourne’s backing band and Atomic Rooster.

In 2020, the studio was taken over by producer Andy Glen, who brought in legendary acoustician Nick Whitaker (look him up!) to upgrade its acoustic blueprint. The 2000sqm complex houses a generously sized live room, which makes it perfect for tracking drums and full album sessions, and is further complemented by a large control room, isolation booth and kitchen area, all while still retaining a cosy intimacy.

The control room features a 24 channel Trident 68 series console, and Avalon and Focusrite mic preamps. Monitoring is covered by a pair of Neumann KH 310A, Genelec 8040s, and Yamaha H5s. With a vast array of curated guitar pedals, vintage instruments, and world class microphones, it is the ideal place for writing, tracking or mixing sessions. The surrounding fields and countryside also provide a great opportunity for photoshoots and filming, too.

There is adequate parking in the grounds for up to 8 cars for clients to use, and a convenient side door to the live room for offloading equipment easily.
